Media Bio (General Long)

Monica Rivera is a 2nd generation Realtor® and #1 Best-Selling Author with a personal passion for real estate as a vehicle to create legacies of multigenerational wealth. She has shared the stage with Kevin Harrington of ABC’s Shark Tank, been a guest speaker for C.A.R.’s WomanUP!® Conference, and has been featured on multiple media outlets including KTLA Channel 5, KPCC, NPR, and Huffington Post to name a few.

Her experience in real estate spans across multiple fields and generations as she grew up in a family of Realtors® and investors, including her father. Throughout college, Monica worked with a property management firm that focused on mixed-use properties and multi-family collegiate housing, before branching out after graduation to pursue her own entrepreneurial endeavors in the same field.

Upon first deciding to pursue entrepreneurship, Monica had her fair share of struggle— at one point living out of a suitcase in the back room of her first office (on a blow-up air mattress that would deflate halfway through each night)

Humble beginnings quickly gave way to a successful business merger and the company, which focused on business development and acquisitions of multi-family properties in college towns, grew surprisingly quickly. Within only 2 years, a portfolio of 90 beds became 700+.

As the business grew and evolved, Monica became increasingly passionate about the legacy she wanted to leave and exited the company to enter the sales side of the real estate business in 2016, quickly becoming a Coach and then Team Leader for her Keller Williams office. Monica served as the Team Leader and CEO for Keller Williams South East Los Angeles for 5 and half years, personally recruiting and developing dozens of successful agents.

As a Business Success Coach and Nero linguistic Programming Master Practitioner, certified by the International Business and Entrepreneurship Association, Monica has also been invited to speak and lead workshops on topics ranging from motivation to branding and business at multiple collegiate institutions and national organizations including her alma mater, The University of Southern California, among others.

During the Covid-19 Pandemic, Monica launched her own coaching site to offer education to all agents, regardless of brand, and was recognized for her work by RidMedia as a 2021 Real Estate Newsmaker. She was also named a State of California Woman of the Year by Assembly Member Christina Garcia of the 58th District.

Her first book, Latina Empowerment Through Leadership was published in May of 2017 and became an instant best-seller. Her second book, The Secrets to Sold was released in 2018.

In 2023, Monica aligned herself with the premier luxury real estate firm Sotheby's International Realty. She currently serves as the Manager of Growth for the West Coast covering the LA, Santa Barbara, Carmel/Monterey/Santa Cruz, San Francisco and Wine Country regions, is an investor in a tech based start-up focused on serving Latinx audiences, and is working on her 3rd book exploring the intersections of culture, wealth-building, real estate and politics.
